Best free apps to watch movies and tv shows on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac & PC

By: Marwan, September 26, 2014
Before you go ahead and read the article, please be aware that all the apps below use piracy for content. While Alwaraki Blog is against piracy, people living in countries in the Middle East and elsewhere where there’s no Netflix or a good selection of movies and shows on iTunes have no choice other than piracy.

If you have a method of watching shows and movies legally please do not pirate.

Whatsapp vs Telegram

By: Marwan, June 28, 2014

Whatsapp is an extremely popular instant messaging application with a user base of 500 million users all across the world. It gained fame since it provided free messaging between people regardless of where they live. Telegram is a less popular app, and could be seen as a Whatsapp clone. However, the app has a much larger focus on privacy than Whatsapp and also does better in other comparisons as seen below. Ellis Hamburger from The Verge wrote an article titled: Why Telegram has become the hottest messaging app in the world.

I'm going to compare both Whatsapp and Telegram in five different challenges, and we'll see who wins overall. Keep in mind that some features which I consider important to me may not be important to you, and vice-versa.

Smartphone Shortcomings- 4 big ways smartphones are expected to improve [Infograph]

By: Marwan, February 23, 2014
Smartphones are credited for being so advanced and convenient. Most modern smartphones show you directions to a nearby shop without you needing to even touch the screen. There are however limitations that have been created. I used to charge my very old Nokia once a month, and now an average smartphone is charged 2.4 times a day in New York.

There is room for improvement for smartphones, and today I'm sharing with you an infographic from the folks at Computer Science Hub that shows the 4 big ways smartphones are expected to improve in the near future. I hope you like it.

Windows phone 8 vs Android's 4.4: Which OS is easy to operate?

By: Marwan, November 16, 2013
This is a guest post by Diana Maria.

With the increase in availability of smartphones and still newer ones anticipated for release till the end of this year, it can be difficult to choose the best device. Goggle and Microsoft have both released new versions of their mobile operating systems. The fact is that both these OS platforms have their own merits and demerits. Depending on what you’re already using and what you are expecting out of your computing experience, any one of these two choices may be the best option. Understanding your own requirements and each OS will deliver the most positive experience possible. Failing to do homework before buying a new phone will lead to disappointment. Comparing the two platforms can help you make a more sensible purchase in the end.

How to insert and see Emoji on Windows

By: Marwan, October 18, 2013
Just recently I posted a short tutorial on how to insert emojis on Mac, but today I'll show you a quick way to insert and see emoji on a Windows. Note: this method works on Mac too.

As you probably know, emoji don't appear correctly on Windows. The fix to this is to open a website called iemoji.com. This website lets you convert the boxes and question marks seen on Windows to emojis. Additionally, it shows you a list of emojis which you can use in your own tweets or documents. They will appear as boxes everywhere except iemoji for you, but Apple users will see them as emoji. The site is pretty self explanatory but if you don't know how to use it I'll show you using images below.

Follow 3 Simple Steps and own any smartphone to completely increase your productivity level

By: Marwan, March 25, 2013
We all want to be productive in our lives. Some want to simply do their work while others even want to become someone remembered in history. To do this, we need to get over procrastination and begin a new routine in our lives. Making a time table and hoping that this will help you do what you want to get done barely ever works, and all the methods on the internet are useless. Don't worry we've all been there, and I've been there. But for the last few weeks I have been testing and experimenting with some free apps and seeing which works best.

Although ironically I didn't blog for quite a long time, and blogging was on my list of things I really want to do, I now understand why I wasn't blogging recently and will explain it all in this post. What you're about to read could be your lifesaver.

You can pay $125 to downgrade to Windows 7

By: Marwan, January 23, 2013
Imagine having to pay money to downgrade to an older OS. And imagine the sum of money you need to pay is $125. Unfortunately this is the case with Windows 8. If you're not willing to pay I have previously posted an article explaining how to do it for free.

I'm not sure whether I should be disappointed or should I just laugh my ass off.

Microsoft pay a few celebs for Windows Phone 8 ads

By: Marwan, December 2, 2012
Microsoft are spending more money to promote Windows Phone 8. By watching previous adverts and promotional videos it is obvious that Microsoft really love the idea of having tiles. And yes it is a great feature. Microsoft however are spending a lot of money to make people love the idea as much as they love it too.

Microsoft are now airing new adverts that are promoting the idea so much but would probably also cost them a lot of money. In my opinion, getting celebs for adverts doesn't really help promote a product especially when you know the celeb is only doing so because he/she is getting paid. Watch the 4 ads below and tell us how successful you think they are, or will be.

Cheer up! Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates Rap Battle [Parody]

By: Marwan, October 22, 2012
I can't stop laughing and hitting the replay button every time I watch this music video. It isn't Bruno Mars' latest album or anything as boring as that, it's something epic. Epic Rap Battles of History made a parody rap battle between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Some of the replies are so funny and offensive you have to watch the video to believe it. The video is 4 months old so some of you may have already watched it. I watched it a few months back but saw it today on YouTube and after laughing for ages I said I must share the video on the blog too.

Some of the funniest parts:
After the video so I don't ruin it for you!

An entirely different look at Windows 8

By: Marwan, October 21, 2012
While many criticisms have been posted on how Windows 8 is really hard to use today I have a video for you I found on Gizmodo showing you a 3 year old using Windows 8 with the help of his father (voice only). The dad did not move the mouse around or touch the keyboard he just gave him a few commands of what to do. Yes, the kid is a 3 year old using Windows 8. So if you think Windows 8 is hard to use, chances are you're getting too old for the modern age. Welcome to 2012! Just kidding.

Windows 8 is Windows re-imagined so previous Windows users are going to have a bit of time getting used to the operating system. I'm no computer whiz but I was able to use Windows 8 properly in my first day. I did obviously find a few things I didn't know about every now and then, but getting used to the OS isn't much of a big deal. Once you know where things are and how to operate you will feel as if you're home.

Watch the video below.

Have you tried Windows 8 yet?

Windows 8 might drive users to switch to Mac [Videos]

By: Marwan, October 18, 2012
Windows 8 has a lot of problems. I used to have a couple of its beta stages and spent a lot of my time trying to go back to Windows 7 and thankfully it was possible. The main problem was that the OS looks as if it was made for a tablet and not a keyboard and mouse. This is probably the case and it's disappointing that Microsoft are making it available for computers. Watch the videos below of Windows 8 being used by average customers and tell us if you think Windows 8 could possibly drive people to buying a Mac as a comment. I'm probably switching soon.

IE9 review- don't use it!

By: Marwan, October 10, 2012
2 days ago I promised you with a review for Internet Explorer 9. I showed you two videos comparing IE9's ad with what it should really be like. Click here to watch the videos in case you missed the post. I'll tell you this quite frankly, Internet Explorer is a pretty good browser. It looks good and websites launch decently well. But (and there's always a but!) I no longer use it. I use Rockmelt as my browser as it has the coolest features ever.I have been using it since last March when I shared it on this blog and have to say I'm really pleased with what if offers. It offers features I couldn't get in Internet Explorer from instantly sharing websites to viewing my own posts! Read on after the break for the detailed explanation.

After Steve Jobs teasing the fact that people who are serious about their software must make their own hardware for it several years ago, Microsoft announced the the Microsoft Surface in June which till today we have not heard any confirmed price or release date for it. Now after many hardware manufacturers such as Nokia, HTC and Samsung are making their own Windows 8 phones; Microsoft knew that they too should be making hardware for their Windows 8 phone ... and here it is.

How to hide default icons on Windows 7

By: Marwan, September 30, 2012
They can get annoying. The icons on Windows 7 sitting on your desktop could get really annoying and there is no obvious way to delete it. I'm talking about apps such as Recycle Bin and My Computer; you know the default ones. However the method to remove the icons is really easy when you know how to do it, and this is what I'll be covering in this post. I'm not exactly sure on what versions of Windows this method will work, but it does certainly work on Windows 7. Before we start you might want to check out these few related articles on Alwarakiblog:
So let's get started.

The makers of Angry birds releasing a different game!

By: Marwan, September 19, 2012
Bad Piggies will be Rovio's next attempt to make a highly popular game. Rovio the makers of Angry Birds have just announced that they will be releasing a new game on the 27th September. All you can see now is a trailer that really grabbed my attention. I have purchased a couple of Angry Birds' games on my iPhone but somehow unlike millions of others the game never truly got me. This new game however appears to be a more customizable game rather than just shooting birds at pigs! Below is the trailer of Rovio's different attempt in gaming unlike their previous Angry Birds' series. More details about the game after the video.

Fix small screen glitch on Windows 7

By: Marwan, September 18, 2012
There is this really annoying glitch that would happen to me on my laptop whenever I had it on standby, unplugged it from the charger and then left standby. What would happen is the screen would have less width than it usually does. So over the months I had my laptop I figured out too ways to fix it. Both really simple, but you have to do them every time the glitch happens.

Sorry for the bad quality
