They Need To Be Fed 3 Review

On August 19, They Need To Be Fed (TNTBF) hit the trilogy mark. The game started off on PC then made its way into iOS almost four years ago. I've never played any version of TNTBF in the past, so it was exciting to give the third version a try.

The concept of the game is pretty simple. You need to move your character around levels of rotating blocks while dodging spikes and picking up diamonds until you reach a hungry plant at the end of the level. The game has a little twist in it which makes it a lot more fun: Gravity isn't pulling your character down. Instead, every block has it's own small gravitational field and you jump from one block into another. You can not fall off and die as you're always withing a block's gravitational field.

The only controls in the game are right, left & jump. When you're upside down, the right button moves your character to the left, and the left button moves him to the right. When under pressure, it is possible to mix up the controls of the game and move to the wrong direction into a flying bat which results in the death of your character.

Fortunately, when dying in TNTBF3, your character spawns at a nearby checkpoint. So you will need to repeat a few jumps only rather than the whole level. This avoids boring repetition found in some games.

The game has three different modes. Classic mode contains worlds which contain levels. It is unlocked by default and will be the one played most by users. After collecting 7 diamonds you can unlock Adventure mode. This is more of a free roam kind of mode and should be fun to help users get used to the gaming style. For 90 diamonds you can unlock Epic mode. This game mode has a lot more obstacles and no checkpoints at all making it almost impossible to finish!

The game looks gorgeous and it's challenging. Due to the three different game modes, and the different worlds in the game; TNDBF3 can be played for a long time until you get bored of it.

They Need To Be Fed 3 is available for $1.99 on the App Store. If you're looking for a game to get hooked into then this should be fun for you. The game's universal too so you can play it on your iPhone or iPad.
