Whatsapp, one of the world's most popular IM apps has a feature that could start becoming annoying for some users. Whatsapp saves any picture that you receive automatically to your camera roll. On some devices the pictures are saved in their own album, which doesn't make any problem. However, on other devices such as the iPhone, the pictures are saved in the camera roll alongside other pictures.
This could be extremely frustrating if you receive a lot of pictures over whatsapp that you only want to view once, but it ends up flooding your camera roll. Whatsapp made it easy to disable this feature. The process is really simple and it should be similarly done on any device with Whatsapp. Read on for a step-by-step guide.
1.Open Whatsapp
2.Tap on "Settings" in the bottom bar
3.Tap on "Chat Settings"
4.Toggle "Save Incoming Media" so that it's off
Now the next time you receive an image from Whatsapp it will not be saved automatically. You can however save it manually if you please.

DeleteIn my android , I have no such option, for not saving the images we recieve. Let me know if I can.
ReplyDeleteI checked the Internet for a solution because you're right the toggle is not available on Android, and I found a method that is just a bit more complicated. Check out the link below and tell me if it works for you http://techites.com/how-to/hide-whatsapp-photos-from-appearing-in-android-gallery/
DeleteThank you!!It was very annoying!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I'm glad I helped.
DeleteThank you. This is good info.

DeleteI was wonder can you create a separate folder on iPhone that the images save to instead of camera roll? or direct whatsapp images to a foldeR?
ReplyDeleteYou can create an album on your iPhone called Whatsapp and manually move the images there. But this can't be done automatically by Whatsapp simply because Whatsapp don't take advantage of this feature.

ReplyDeleteIt's not just the images you receive. I have no problem with automatically saving the images i receive to my gallery.
ReplyDeleteThe real problem for me is that even the images i SEND through whatsapp, which I first select from my gallery, are added to my gallery again (as duplicates). THAT is annoying.
That's weird and certainly annoying. Doesn't happen to me on iPhone, which phone are you using?

ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome :)
DeleteHey, did you find a solution? I'm having my photos duplicated when i send them as well
ReplyDeleteWhen you take a picture in whatsapp and send it it'll automatically get saved to your camera roll, don't think you can stop that. Is that what you're asking about?
DeleteNot that. It happens even when I forward an existing photo from camera roll To WhatsApp.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't happen to me. You're on iPhone or Android?
DeleteiPhone 6
ReplyDeleteI just tried on mine and it doesn't happen :/ Not sure what the solution is, sorry. But it's most likely a bug. You could try to re install whatsapp but make sure to back up your chats first.
DeleteOr you could go to Settings --> Privacy --> Photos, and turn it off for Whatsapp. However that'll prevent you from being able to send photos on whatsapp from your phone, so I'd recommend the first option.
I have an iphone 6 and everytime i send a photo/video to a chat member the it saves AGAIN to my camera roll and I hate it!!! How can I stop this?
